This guide shows you how to access shared Tag Monitor datasets via BigQuery's Analytics Hub.
What will you do?
- Share the account with the Code Cube team that should receive access
- Locate or create your Google Cloud Platform project
- Open the shared data exchange link
- Connect the dataset to your own BigQuery environment
⏰ Estimated time: 10 minutes
🔧 Requirements: GCP project with BigQuery enabled, Google account, Premium Code Cube package
Introduction
BigQuery's Analytics Hub is used to share raw monitoring data. It gives you direct access to the Code Cube dataset from your own Google Cloud environment, perfect for deeper analysis and custom queries.
How it works
The Analytics Hub uses a publish/subscribe model. You get access to a real-time dataset, and all query costs are billed to your own GCP project.
We can share:
- Real-time offload of Tag Monitor client-side data
- Real-time offload of Tag Monitor server-side data
Technical details
- Update frequency: Data is streamed in real-time (typically within 1-2 minutes)
- Data retention: 12 months
- Data volume: Varies based on your website traffic and sampling configuration
- Access type: Read-only via BigQuery Analytics Hub
Implementation
Step 1. Share your Google email address
Send the Google account that should receive access to your contact at Code Cube or email support@code-cube.io.
Important: Make sure this Google email address has access to the relevant Google Cloud Platform project.
Step 2. Locate or set-up your Google Cloud Platform project
Create or choose the Google Cloud Project where the data should be stored.
Important: Ensure BigQuery is enabled on your project.
Step 3 – Open the shared dataset link
You'll receive a data exchange link after your access is managed by the Code Cube team. Open the link while logged in with the same Google account.
3.1 Subscribe to the dataset
After opening the link, you will be redirected to a page like the one below. Click +Subscribe
3.2 Configure the linked dataset
- Project: Choose the target GCP project
- Linked dataset name: Enter a descriptive name for the dataset like ‘codecube-tag-monitor’
Step 4. Access your data
Go to your GCP console → BigQuery → and locate the newly added dataset.
Next steps:
- Use the data in Looker Studio
- Connect to external tools
- Run SQL queries directly in BigQuery
Troubleshooting
Issue | Solution |
Can’t find the dataset | Make sure you opened the link while logged in with the shared Google account |
Access denied error in BigQuery | Double-check that the shared Google account is part of the target GCP project |
Data doesn’t appear in project | Confirm the dataset was added via the “+ Add dataset to project” button |
Query errors | Ensure correct billing and permissions are active on your project |
