Bulk edit tags in Google Tag Manager

This mode allows you to run a one-click sync with your GTM container to automatically update all tag names.

What will you do?

  • Access the Bulk Edit mode in Tag Monitor
  • Connect your Google Tag Manager account and container
  • Run the automated update to sync all tag names
  • Confirm and publish the changes

šŸ”§ Requirements: Access to the Code Cube portal with edit permissions

Step 1 — Open the Tag bulk editing mode

Start by navigating to the Bulk Edit section within your project in the Code Cube portal.

  1. Log in to the Code Cube portal
  2. Go to the step 'Client-side error monitoring' or 'Server-side error monitoring' in the Tag Monitor configuration page
  3. Click on the button ā€˜start bulk editing’

Step 2 — Connect your GTM container

You’ll now link your Google Tag Manager account and Container to the Code Cube portal.

  1. Authenticate your Google account via the button ā€˜Start authentication’
  2. Make sure to follow the steps to authenticate your Google account
  3. In the dropdown, you will see all GTM accounts you have access to. Choose the relevant GTM account to update.
  4. In the dropdown, you will see the GTM containers related to the selecteed account. Choose the relevant GTM container to update.
  5. Choose the correct GTM container for your project

You can run the update multiple times to update multiple containers.

Step 3 — Run the automated update

  • Once your container is connected ā€˜Run update’.
  • Code Cube will automatically create a seperate workspace ā€˜Code Cube’ for it’s changes, so make sure there is a workspace available.
  • Keep in mind that it could take a couple of minutes before the update is finalized. You do see an confirmation on the page as soon as the update is done.

Step 4 — Confirm and publish

  1. Review the changes created in the Google Tag Manager container.
  2. If everything looks good, publish the changes.
  3. Your tag names will now be updated in Tag Monitor
